Jamshed Nusserwanjee Mehta

Jamshed Nusserwanjee Mehta

(7 January 1886 – 1 August 1952) was the first elected Mayor of Karachi and remembered as the "Maker of Modern Karachi. He was NJV graduate of 1933

In 1918, Mehta was elected a councilor of the Karachi Municipal Corporation. He was soon elected the President of the Corporation. He served in that capacity for 12 years and become the first Mayor of the city. He transformed the city into a great and important metropolis in his years as local politician.

He was a member of the Sindh Legislative Assembly, the father of Scouting in Sindh, and one of the founder members of the Boy Scout Movement in India, and later on in Pakistan. He was the Deputy Chief Commissioner of the GHQ and its Honorary Treasurer. Pakistan's Sea Scout landing craft is named after him.


Amar Jaleel (Qazi Abdul Jaleel)

Amar Jaleel

(born 1936 in Rohri) is a Sindhi fiction writer and a columnist whose columns appear in various Sindhi, Urdu and English-language dailies of Pakistan. He has authored 20 books, and received awards including Pride of Performance (Pakistan), and Akhal Bharat Sindhi Sahat Sabha National Award (India).

Jaleel started writing stories when he was 10 years old. He played for his NJV School and also featured briefly in first class cricket as wicketkeeper-batsman.

Amar Jaleel started his career at Radio Pakistan, Karachi before being transferred to Islamabad, where he worked in different positions at radio and educational institutions. Now retired, Jaleel currently resides in Karachi, Sindh, where he spends his leisure time writing articles for various Pakistan newspapers, and is known as a popular columnist for Dawn and the News.  Currently working with a private regional Sindhi TV channel as anchor program class room.


Nisar Memon

Nisar Memon

(born 31 December 1942) is a politician from Sindh, Pakistan. He was a member of the Senate of Pakistan, belonging to Pakistan Muslim League. Nisar Memon holds a Master of Science degree from Karachi University. He was the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting (in 1993 and again in 2002), the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas during 1993 and 2002, the Country General Manager for IBM Corporation(1989–1999) and the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Engro Group of Pakistan (2001–2002). He has been a member of the Board of Directors for Pakistan State Oil,American Life Insurance Company, and Capital Asset Leasing Company. He was the president of Pakistan's Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1994.

As Senator, he was the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of Senate on Defence and Defence Production and the Parliamentary Committee on Water Resources. He was a member of the Standing Committees of Senate on Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economic Affairs and Housing and Environment Committee. He continues to be a Member, Board of Governors, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Islamabad. Nisar Memon is the founding president of Amanat Foundation, which has launched Pakistan Literacy Project (PLP).


Pir Mazhar ul Haq

Pir Mazhar ul Haq

(born 14 September 1949) is a Pakistani politician who remained a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 1988 to 2013. He also remained Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Department Sindh. He did BA and MA in Political science from University of Sindh.

As Senator, he was the Pir Mazhar ul Haq was first elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in general elections of 1988 from Constituency PS-74 (Dadu-IV) as a candidate of Pakistan Peoples Party. Pir Mazhar Ul Haq remained as a minister for housing and town planning, and law and parliamentary affairs respectively. He was the Parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh Assembly, a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Senior Minister in the Sindh Provincial Government, holding the portfolios of Education and Literacy and Criminal Prosecution Service. He was continuously elected in all the general elections except general elections of 2002.


Shafi Muhammad Jamot

Shafi Muhammad Jamot

(10 May 1940 – 7 July 2019) was a Pakistani politician who was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from May 2013 to May 2018.

He started his political career as member Provincial Assembly of Sindh in 1977 and he served in local city Government and remains Chiarman District Council Karachi from 1979 to 1983 and second time from 1987 to 1992. He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from Constituency PS-129 KARACHI-XLI in 2013 Pakistani general election and remains member till 2018.


Prof. Asif Ali G. Kazi

(born 1st July 1945 in Karachi) joined NJV Govt. High School in 1953 and completed Matriculation in 1960. Did his Intermediate in 1962 from DJ Science College Karachi, later joined University of Karachi in 1962. Did his B.Sc (Hons) in 1965 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and did his M.Sc in Pure Mathematics in 1966 and MPhil in Pure Mathematics in 1973 from The University of Leeds, UK.

During his student life he remains Secretary Literary Society, Magazine Secretary, Secretary Sindhi Bazam e Adab, Vice President and General Secretary Epslon Circle (Department of Mathematics). He served at Adamje Science College Karachi (1966), Government Degree College Larkano (1967-68), Department of Mathematics, University of Sindh (1968 -1970), The University of Leeds (1970 -73), Department of Mathematics and Statistics (1973 -75), Department of People's Rural development Govt. of Sindh (1975 -76), The Rice Milling Corporation of Pakistan (1976 -77), Department of Education, Government of Sindh (1977 -78), Department of Mathematics and Statistics (1978), and Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS). He also served as Chairman, Department of Mathematics, Chairman Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Director, Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (IMCS), Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences and remains Planning and Development (Coordinator), Member, Senate, Academic Council, planning and development, Elected member Syndicate several times and President Sindh University Teachers Association, President Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association. He also participated in several International and National Conferences, remains Judge at AQ KHAN SOFTWARE COMPTITIONS, Member of selection board for Professor in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, University of Karachi and NED University. He published 25 research papers in International journal and remains Member Board of Studies in mathematics, University of Karachi and Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad.


Abdul Aziz uqaili

Abdul Aziz Uqaili

Abdul Aziz Uqaili is an officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) presently working as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Islamabad. He has over 25 years of versatile work experience on important roles at national, provincial and district levels and abroad. He did his MSc from London School of Economics, he holds several distinctions, both at work and in academics. Mr. Uqaili is task and outcome oriented person with reputation of a “doer”. Being a meticulous civil servant, he always strived to bring betterment in public service delivery, on challenging and critical assignments.

Currently working at national level, as Additional Secretary (BPS-21), Ministry of Interior Islamabad, since Jan. 2019. Earlier, he worked as Joint Secretary in the same Ministry. At provincial level, remained Secretary to Govt. of Sindh in School Education & Literacy (2017) and Culture (2011-13) Departments. Earlier, worked as Adl. Finance Secretary (Resource) (2006-08) and Deputy Secretary (Staff) to Chief Secretary Sindh (2000-01). As District Coordination Officer (DCO) & Administrator, he served in two districts of Sindh viz. Larkana (2008) and Ghotki (2010). Started service (1994) from Govt. of Punjab as AC & SDM and worked in Jhelum (1997-8) and Rahim Yar Khan (1995-6) districts (Liaquatpur & Khanpur). In Karachi, served as AC & SDM in Civil Lines and Orangi Town (1998-9). Worked abroad as Pakistan’s Consul General and Trade Commissioner in Sydney (2013-16) and Community Welfare Attaché, in Kuala Lumpur and Jeddah (2001-5). He recieved his MSc (Development Management) from London School of Economics (2005-6). Passed with high merit – dissertation on ‘Decentralized Education Service Delivery”; LLB from SM Law College, Karachi University, in first division (1998-01); Basically a Civil Engineer from NED University of Engg & Tech. Karachi (1993); Held first class first position in BA Exam (External Candidate) from Sindh University (1990), to appear in CSS exam at the age of 21 – received gold medal; Secured 8th position in Pakistan in CSS exam (1991), in first attempt, at the age of 22 and obtained 3rd position in final passing out exam (FPOE) in 1994 (held by FPSC); Topped Department Exam (1995), held by Punjab Public Service Commission, Lahore; A rare achievement of standing first class first in BISE Hyderabad (Board) both in HSSC / inter (1987) and SSC / matric (1985) – received two gold medals. He has skilled in management and leadership – expert in managing projects with best results; Capable of formulating policies, strategies and procedures; Possesses strong networking, advocacy, interpersonal and communication skills; Gifted to work in diverse/ multi-cultural environments within Pakistan and abroad; Computer literate – expert user of MS Windows, MS Office, Internet, emailing, etc.; Expert in handling emergency situations, natural disasters and managing relief measures. Acknowledged by Govt of Sindh and BBC London during 2010 Super Flood. He is also Proficient in English, Urdu & Sindhi and having working knowledge of Punjabi & Arabic.


Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro

(born in 1970 from Villege Dehat, District Naushahro Feroze) is currently serving as Dean College of Computer Science & Information Systems (CCSIS) at Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi. He was NJV graduate of 1985.

Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Professor of Computer Science and Dean at CCSIS, IoBM, has received BSc (Hons) and M.Sc degrees in Computer Science from University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan and his Ph.D. in Computer Applications from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He has more than 25 years of extensive and diverse experience as an administrator, computer programmer, researcher, and teacher. As an administrator, He served as Coordinator, Head of Department, Head of Faculty, Dean of Faculty, Head of Academic Affairs and having wide experience in accreditation related matters, including ABET, HEC Pakistan and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is Senior Member of IEEE, IEEE computer society and IEEE Geosciences & RS Society since 2005 and IEEE Member since 2000. Member Project Management Institute (PMI) since 2007. Senior Member, International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT) since 2012. Life Member, Computer Society of Pakistan (CSP) since 1999. Global Member, Internet Society (ISOC), U.S.A., since 2006. He has been active member of IEEE Karachi Section (Region 10), currently serving as Vice-Chair Karachi Section (2020), Member Executive Committee (ExCom) for 2018, 2019 and 2020 and previously served as Secretary Karachi Section (2018-19), Chair GOLD affinity Group and Member Executive Committee 2014, branch councilor (2002 & 2016). He is member Task Force on Arabic Script IDNs by Middle East Strategy Working Group (MESWG) of ICANN. He also received the ISOC Fellowship to the IETF for 68th Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Meeting.


Eng. Faizullah Korejo

Eng. Faizullah Korejo

(born in 1974 from District Badin) is currently serving in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as Additional Director Cyber Crime Sindh Zone. He was NJV graduate of 1989.

Eng. Faizullah Korejo, PSP, is Senior Superintendent of Police working in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as Additional Director Cyber Crime Sindh Zone. He recieved his BE in Civil Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi and recieved his MA in Criminology from Univeristy of Karachi. He has 15 years of experience in various law enforcement capacities. He is an alumni of International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on Human Trafficking by the United States Government. Eng. Korejo is a focal person of various units of Sindh Police including Child Right and Crime Scene Investigation and Establishment of Crime Scene Units (CSU). He is also a Coordinator between Sindh Police and Child Protection Units (CPUs) established by Women Development Department. He worked in Economic Crimes Wing i.e. Commercial Bank Circle (CBC) dealing with white collar crimes happening in banking sector. Eng. Korejo also worked in immigration and Anti-Human Smuggling (I & AHS) Unit at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. He also has an experience working in Cyber Crime Sindh Zone as Zonal Head dealing with Cyber Crimes across Province of Sindh.
